Education
In 1999, Sean started at Grove City College where he earned his degree in Computer Information Systems. During his time there, Sean was also the Executive President of Student Government, Omicron Delta Kappa, and the American Marketing Association!
In 2002, Sean moved on to earn his Research Fellowship in Computer Science and Organizational Behavior from Carnegie Mellon University, working with different researchers to examine the role of creativity in software development processes.
Corporate Startup Lab
Sean is also the director and co-founder of the Corporate Startup Lab, an initiative brought forward by the Swartz Center at Carnegie Mellon University, to help startups and growing businesses the tools and research needed to be more successful. The initiative conducts research and develops tools to help companies better adapt and integrate best entrepreneurial practices into their own innovation processes. It also involves teams of graduate students that partner with large companies to test and develop real startup ideas.
Distinguished Service Professor
Sean also works as a professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, leading MBA courses in Entrepreneurship, like Lean Entrepreneurship, and the Science of Growth. Also within Carnegie Mellon, Sean teaches a few open enrollment classes such as Leading Innovation, Creating a Dynamic Organization, and Corporate Innovation. Lastly, he is also a co-instructor at Heinz College’s Masters in Medical Management, and Entrepreneurial Plan Development.
Venture Capitalist / Partner
Sean has worked as a venture capitalist and partner of Birchmere Ventures, one of the highest performing venture groups in the industry, since 2012! He works with several different digital marketplace investments including, NoWait, umano, Altru, Healthie, Crystal, JazzHR, PhoneWagon, SPIDR tech, LegalSifter, and The Zebra.
