Many factors impact an individual’s well-being. Frequently we discuss an individual’s health, the environment they are in, or their diet and exercise routines. So often, we forget to ask how connected they feel.

Social connections are one of the critical foundations of health and well-being. Without social connections, we can become isolated and scared. In the end, social connections are essential to our ability to thrive.

Social connectedness allows us to better cope with adversity and improve feelings of purpose and optimism. These connections may create new opportunities or provide insights into a world we did not know.

How connected are we?

Gallup and Meta recently released the first stage of The State of Social Connections study. Detailed information can be found at the link below.

Connectedness is a dilemma on a global scale; on average, 31% of folks surveyed said they never connected with people from work or school. Further, on average, only 43% of those surveyed said they connected once per day or more with those from work or school.

This data says a lot; it tells that even though people are at work or in the classroom, most are not connecting with those around them. It is critical to their success that we do more to support connectedness and give them opportunities to learn and grow.
